Accidental Bonding

For as long as time has existed, man has traveled. Some alone and some with friends and family. Sometimes in good fun, sometimes in deep sorrow. On the journey they wear eager faces and unfold eager actions for they are looking to the future of where they will be, or they are sit with boredom thinking of where they were. However, has anyone stopped to think about the now and enjoy where they are currently? No matter where you are or where you go, where you went, you are always in someones thoughts, but what about the people who are looking you in face? Why not grasp this moment and live it to its the full extent? Why not etch this very moment into your mind and into the minds of the ones surrounding you? I wonder to myself sometimes if those prior thoughts have ever crossed anyone’s mind, because I sure have thought about them.

I remember one time when I was going on a trip to a family gathering. My brother, Roney had invited a few friends, one who drove us, Tommy and another who tagged along for some fun, Vichet. Along with us came my other brother RJ. Our destination was San Jose, California which was not too far from our hometown of Stockton, which was only a bout a 2 hour drive. So as we piled into the car we immediately began talking about our destination, about Great America, about the Great Mall, about this great city. Before we knew it we were half way there and it seemed that we began comparing San Jose, the place we were headed, to Stockton, the place where we left. At this moment we were thinking of where we were once upon a time, Then suddenly Tommy exclaims “Uh-oh, I think we need to pull over” The rest of us quickly responded “Why?!” Tommy explained that his car was about to overheat and went on to say that he also forgot to put anti-freeze in his car.

So we pulled off to a town in the middle of nowhere known as Sunoli. It was the middle of summer so we packed a few bottles of water but since we were half way there, if not further we drank most of them to the half way point, if not further. After numerous attempts at reviving the car we realized we wold be there for awhile. So we just talked about some trips that my brothers friends have taken. Tommy and Vichet both never been stranded before and neither had us brothers. Since we were stuck we thought we should split into groups and search around. I was paired with Vichet and we walked down the street no further than 50 feet when Vichet said he needed to pee. However, he was reluctant to go by himself in this surrounding “Forrest” So I tagged along, not too far, not too close as Vichet disappears behind a tree. A few seconds later he let's a shriek and explains that he saw a bear, as we regrouped Vichet and I shared the story and we all laughed it off when a few good Samaritans come by to assist. Then we were back on our way to San Jose, the place where we were going.

I began thinking that no matter where we were being around the people that accompanied me on this journey was the simple solution for fun. Also, with these memories that we will never forget we continue as a closer group of friends.
