Head to the Nevada-California border for the winter season and cruise along Lake Tahoe with Zephyr Cove Resort’s “Ride, Stay and Cruise” package, available now through April 2010.

For a two-night stay in a studio, bungalow or one-bedroom cabin, families can experience the rugged outdoors by way of snowmobile tours, horseback riding and scenic cruises on massive paddle wheelers.

Two tickets will be offered as part of Zephyr Cove’s special package to board the M.S. Dixie II, the largest cruising vessel on the lake, capable of carrying up to 570 passengers. Kids will love the giant old-time paddle wheels, while mom and dad can relax and take in the sights of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Two snowmobile single ride tours will be included as well, giving guests the adventure tour they crave, weaving in and out through the high mountain pines and taking in the breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe’s South Shore.

Not a snow pro? Snowmobile novices will be at ease with Lake Tahoe’s expert guides available on group tours.

If the family is still not willing to call it quits for the day, Zephyr Cove Resort is just minutes away from downtown shopping, casinos and restaurants.

Once back at the resort, guests will appreciate the cozy lodge rooms, while the cabins add more of a home touch with cable TV, fully equipped kitchen and telephone and Internet access.

For some local flavor, be sure to stop by the “The Lodge,” which serves all three daily meals and provides families with a relaxing rustic environment. The restaurant’s purportedly famous milkshakes might be something worth looking into for the kids as well.

Only open from late spring to early fall, the Sunset Bar & Grille seems to be more for the adult guests, though it does offer some pub favorites for food as well. For non-landlubbers, stay aboard the M.S. Dixie II for a more formal dinner cruise in the evenings.

Rates for the “Ride, Stay and Cruise” package begin at $200 per person based on double occupancy and reservations must be booked by March 30, 2010.

During the summertime, Zephyr Cove Resort is loaded with activities for the adventure junkie, including parasailing, speed boating and more.
