Golfing with Grandparents in Colonial Times from $99pp BnB and Tee
Colonial Williamsburg is a place of history, of simpler times and… of golf! Families can take advantage of Williamsburg’s temperate winter climate to share some of America's fascinating colonial history with kids, and tune up their golf game with a special golf promotion. As for introducing this fascinating era of history to the kids, visiting the historic site, and helping your kids fall in love with it (like ours did), take a look at FTF's article for Planning Your Trip to Colonial Williamsburg.
The Winter Stay and Play Golf Package wants to encourage parents and grandparents to try and beat Colonial Williamsburg’s legendary Golden Horseshoe golf courses. Maybe the grandkids will join you on the course, as they are said to present challenges to golfers of all skill levels. Enjoy the crisp air, rolling lawns, bubbling streams and panoramic views surrounded by Audubon sanctuaries. (And keep in mind the kids' clubs only operate in summer, though babysitting help is available through the concierge.)
Lasting through March 25, 2010, the package will include:
-- accommodations at a Colonial Williamsburg on-site hotel
-- 1 round of golf per person per night of stay, on the Gold Course (designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.) or the Green Course (designed by Rees Jones)
-- Full access to the driving range
-- 20% discount on golf apparel at either the club or Pro Shop
-- a daily breakfast at the hotel
-- guest passes to the Historic Area and ongoing exhibitions
-- 20% discount at most on-site gift shops.
Rates begin as low as $99/N per adult, based on a double-occupancy stay at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites. Standard rooms for this price include two double beds, while the entire hotel itself is furnished and decorated to reflect a contemporary old Williamsburg home. Also, call and see if this package is available at other Colonial Williamsburg hotels if you prefer; pricing varies with hotel, room type, and dates of stay.
At press time, the following hotels were available at these rates: Williamsburg Lodge—$129; Colonial Houses–Historic Lodging—$139; Providence Hall Guesthouses—$164; Williamsburg Inn—$214. (You can learn more about the various Colonial Willisamsburg hotels by reading FTF's roundup of Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia Hotels & Resorts).
As in all offers, there's fine print that runs on and on, but basically this is the deal, plus tax and tip, and of course you'll have to book it ahead of arrival. According to our sources, children 6-14 years of age sharing a room with parents pay only an additional $18/N each.
