Off Broadway Twofers mean Half Price on Great NYC Shows

NYC & Company is working to promote New York City's theatrical life with "On the House," a program to boost ticket sales at 25 Off-Broadway productions throughout Manhattan. The three-week promotion, which takes place February 8–28, offers two-for-one Off-Broadway theater tickets for New Yorkers and visitors alike.

Theaters participating in the promotion are scattered throughout Manhattan, and offer a variety of drama for all ages. Long-running shows such as The Fantasticks and Perfect Crime join limited-engagement productions such as Mr. & Mrs. Fitch (starring John Lithgow) in this year's promotion.

Productions participating in On the House: A Lie of the Mind, Ages of the Moon, Avenue Q, Awesome 80s Prom, Candida, Circumcise Me, Clybourne Park, Equivocation, The Fantasticks, Fuerza Bruta, The Gazillion Bubble Show, Happy Now?, MazelTov Cocktail, Measure for Measure, Mr. & Mrs. Fitch, Naked Boys Singing!, Perfect Crime, The Pride, The Scottsboro Boys, Signs of Life, STOMP, The Tempermentals, Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers, Venus in Fur and Yank!

While the FTF staff has not seen everything showing in this great promotion, we can say that Avenue Q and Fuerza Bruta are really great with older teens, and The Gazillion Bubble Show and STOMP are just great entertainment and thrilling for teens and younger kids.

In fact, we quote from reviewer Steve Ramkissoon on his family outing to the "Gazillion Bubble Show" --

"So, here we were with our 2 year-old and 5 year-old, about to be whisked away to this magical bubble world. Fan Yang, who invented the special solution that is used with his bubble toys proved to be quite the showman in the Gazillion Bubble Show. He created both big and small bubbles, even encasing the smaller ones in the larger bubbles. His use of fog within the bubble was amazing, especially when he created replicas of huge wedding rings. This level of excitement was also generated by his bubble 'snowfall.  The show lasts for 80 minutes with no intermission, but it kept the whole audience interested."

If you're planning to be in New York during the next month, or maybe making a Presidents' Day visit to the Big  Apple, be sure to keep this promotion in mind. Reservations open on late January, and complete booking information can be accessed at nycgo.com/onthehouse.
