Hurry, Hurry - Give A Day of Volunteering, Get a Free Disney Day!

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts are all about celebrations. People come to celebrate birthdays, graduations, engagements, family togetherness, a myriad of accomplishments, and more of life's landmarks. In this spirit, Disney is celebrating the joy of giving by offering to 1 million volunteers, a free one-day, one theme park ticket to Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World for a day of service in 2010.

It's easy to sign up and find an eligible opportunity. Visit www.disneyparks.com to learn more, register, and connect with an approved project through the HandsOn Network, directly from Disney's site. Projects are available throughout the 50 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and Canada in the categories of Animals and Environment, Arts and Culture, Children and Youth, Community, Education and Technology, Health and Human Services, Hunger and Homelessness, and Seniors and Elder Care.

This opportunity is available to a maximum of 8 family members, and the head of household must be at least 18-years-old to sign up. Children ages 6 to 17-years-old must be accompanied by an adult to the service project. Your free Disney Day admission must take place before December 15, 2010.

"Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" has already inspired many families who want to make a difference. So, jump on this bandwagon ASAP, because since the program was launched on January 1, more than 600,000 people have volunteered or signed up. Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts recently stated "With the launch of our 'Give a Day, Get a Disney Day' program, we hoped to spark something truly special. But, even we have been overwhelmed by the response."

To dramatize the spirit of giving, a huge sculpture created by Disney VoluntEARS from canned food was recently unveiled at Walt Disney World Resort. Tens of thousands of cans, plus other food items were used in the larger-than-life sculpture of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto. Authenticated by the Guinness World Records, this was the Largest Canned Food Structure ever created, representing 44 tons of food, enough for 70,000 meals for the needy.

A free Disney day is certainly a wonderful reward, and participation in this event will hopefully help create lifelong volunteers of your kids.

Walt Disney Parks is best place for children to enjoy and fun and the whole family can experience Luxury holidays

I will be curious to see how this works out. If Disney will post how many free tickets they were able to give away. It is a wonderful idea, I am just not too sure if it will push people to volunteer that might not have otherwise done so?
