The classic InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel located on Manhattan's Upper East Side is offering a family package starting at $279/N in partnership with the local American Girl Place store and Children for Children, a New York-based organization offering volunteer opportunities for kids and teens of any age.

A five-minute walk from American Girl Place, the hotel's package includes an American Girl themed check-in desk, an "American Girl" DVD to borrow, an in-room breakfast, a weekends-only "Kids Eat Free" coupon for children under 12 with the purchase of an adult meal, and an American Girl travel bed for the young traveler's American Girl doll.

Upon check-in the young guest will also receive a Peace Bracelet Service Project kit for ages 5-15 designed by Children for Children, which includes a "how to" guide on creating the bracelet in addition to background information on the charities to which the donation is going. Kids and teens may also participate in Children for Children service projects offered monthly, if they coincide with your family's visit.

Children for Children mobilizes children at an early age to discover their potential to solve real world problems through volunteer opportunities, engaging more than 100,000 young people each year through 25 programs in 26 states. Monthly service projects include pen pals, recycled art, scarf making during the holidays, making pillows for the homeless, planting and beautifying local parks and participating in different fundraisers.

The Barclay package is based on two adults and one child per room; there's a fee of $38/N per additional child with a maximum of four people in a room. For reservations, talk to your travel agent, call 888/424-6835 or 212/755-5900 or visit the Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel site .

It is really nice to see businesses in the community getting involved and giving back. We just don't see enough of that these days. http://www.luxurynewyorkcityhotel.com

This is a great idea I am trying to get my company to get more generous with competitions and giveaways.

I really want to do a win a trip around the world type prize with YouTube, but the prize will cost a fortune.
