Mexico Tour Operator combines Volunteering and Wellness Retreat
Destination:PEACE, a Puerto Vallarta-based company run by two American sisters who offer yoga and volunteer vacations, have launched the "Pick Your Own Dates" program, which allows visitors to Mexico to volunteer some of their time to social causes.
During a Destination:PEACE program, guests can work for several days, a full day, or part of a day helping children, families, the environment or animals in partnership with local nonprofit organizations. Programs are available in San Miguel de Allende, Punta de Mita, San Pancho and Puebla.
"Listening to the requests of travelers, we know people have busy and hectic lives. Being able to open the window and allow vacationers to choose their own five days opens up a new opportunity," says Molly Fisher, co-founder of Destination:PEACE.
The founders have lofty goals for these vacations, hoping that guests will forge meaningful relationships with the community and immerse themselves in the local culture. Fine Mexican cuisine is a priority at the resorts they use, and it's another way to introduce guests to Mexico's rich culture.
Each five-day vacation combines volunteerism with yoga sessions (for those who want to take advantage of them), plus plenty of down time to allow guests to relax and explore the region. Visit their site Destination Peace Mexico for more information, then pick your own dates.
