Sunny San Diego is heating up with an array of family-friendly hotel deals that offer visitors great savings and values. If you want to beat the heat at the sandy beaches in southern California and enjoy some of San Diego’s famed attractions, now is the time to do it.

The Rancho Bernardo Inn is offering the “Kids Rule, Parents Drool” package—though parents are welcome to participate in and supervise all the fun activities included. One night’s accommodations at the inn through the package starts at $199, and includes daily activities like in-room camping with s’mores and a tent, chalk art, free meals for kids under 10, and an in-room pizza party with a movie. Additionally, if you stay during a weekend, other activities offered include a build-your-own sundae bar, a “Dive-In” movie by the pool, a mini-golf course, and games with Nintendo Wii. Though families may have their schedules packed with all of these activities, the Rancho Bernardo Inn also boasts two restaurants, two outdoor pools, 12 tennis courts, bike rentals, and golf clinics for all ages and lots more fun as described in this resort review by the Greenbergs. Dr. Seuss, author of many beloved kids’ books, lived in San Diego for many years, and the Omni San Diego Hotel is celebrating the fact. Located in downtown San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, the Omni is offering the “Oceans of Life” package now through September 7, 2011. Starting at $219 per night, the ocean-themed package will get you one night of accommodations, two tickets to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla, and a copy of “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” by Dr. Seuss himself. The Omni will donate 10% of every package to the non-profit San Diego Oceans Foundation. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina calls itself the largest eco-friendly hotel in Southern California, and aims to prove it with the new “Love Your Family, Love Your Earth” package. Explore San Diego the green way with two-hour bike rentals (helmets included!), an eco-friendly beach towel, organic sunscreen, and an eco Frisbee. Plus, you’ll also get free kids meals with the purchase of adult meals, an in-room movie each night, an hour’s access to the Wii Zone, and tennis access with racquets included. Available until December 31, 2010, rates begin at $169 per night. Located on the edge of the San Diego Bay, the Sheraton recently completed at $35 million renovation on its 1053 new nautically-themed rooms and suites. Additional amenities include three swimming pools, tennis courts, jogging trails and a spa. Right on the waterfront, the Manchester Grand Hyatt is offering free nights with the Sunshine on Sale package. When guests stay three consecutive nights, the fourth night is free. Also included is one free meal a day for kids under 12 with the purchase of an adult meal. Now through September 4, 2010, rates start at $219.
