Attention all families with teens! Virgin Mobile has introduced a service that will allow users to have unlimited wireless broadband access for only $40 a month. It's the cheapest way we've found for families to stay connected while on-the-go, or just enjoy leisure time in their hotel room, when everyone wants to be online.
In order to take advantage of Virgin's service, you have to purchase one of two devices, a Virgin MiFi 2200 mobile hotspot for $149.99 (pictured above) or an Virgin Ovation MC760 USB drive, for personal use, for $79.99.
The compact, flat MiFi device fits in your palm and provides broadband wireless for up to five Wi-Fi devices, like laptops, e-readers, MP3 players, and gaming devices -- very useful when Dad needs to work, Junior has to research his paper, Mom wants to make dinner reservations and Sis is gaming.
The bargain here is that the Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go service doesn't require a contract, so that your family will only pay when you use it. If you're traveling with your teens to a hotel where internet access is $15 per day, you can buy a prepaid 10-day service plan for only $10 and save a bundle right away.
At present, the pricing options are either $40 for unlimited data per month, or for less frequent users, $10 for 10 days/100MB per month.
To put this in perspective, Virgin estimates that the 100MB is good for 5 hours of internet surfing or 10,000 emails without attachments (as downloading photos, Excel spreadsheets etc takes a lot of bandwidth.) Of course, data usage per activity is based on average use. Actual usage varies depending on the types of websites, video, email and other Internet applications accessed; all service is provided by Sprint.

Don't totally understand the broadband thing. My family is connected by Wireless at home and with Straight Talk as our prepaid cell phone. They can twitt and stay in touch with friends via facebook. All unlimited for $45/month,no purchasing a device for $150. This fits our family for now,maybe in the future broadband will be best,but for now we have everything we need with Straight Talk. The coverage is great and the plans very simple to understand!
