Wow - Megabus Offers 200,000 Free Bus Seats in Winter Seat Giveaway

Megabus, one of those comfy, cheap, WiFi-enabled city center buses that we love, has just announced its second annual Seat Giveaway. The company that brought you express bus service with fares starting at $1 (for the earliest bookers), began offering 200,000 free seats in late December for travel between January 12, 2011 and March 1, 2011.

The company that brought you express bus service with fares starting at $1 (for the earliest bookers), began offering 200,000 free seats in late December for travel between January 12, 2011 and March 1, 2011.

Customers began booking their free seats prior to January 12th and totally crashed the system, so Megabus restricted purchases to trips within 28 day sof departure. Now that the holiday rush is over, "free" seats are once again available for any date until March 1, 2011.

The free seats are subject to availability on all U.S. and Canada routes, and travelers will need to use the promo code WOW200K to book their free seats.

Last year the company gave away a relatively paltry 100,000 seats on its site, but due to continued growth and the increased popularity of express bus travel nationwide, it increased the total number of seats to 200,000.

On Megabus.com you can find schedules and book tickets for all their routes, which now comprise service to 18 cities from Chicago, 12 cities from Philadelphia, 15 cities from New York and 14 cities from Washington DC.

Canadian cities served by Megabus include Kingston, Kirkland, Montreal, Niagara Falls, Scarborough, Toronto and Whitby. 

Since 2006, more than eight million travelers have left the driving to this subsidiary of New Jersey-based Coach USA.
