Kids Stay Free at Rock Lodge at Ulusaba, Africa - Save $240/N
The Rock Lodge at Ulusaba (877/577-8777) is the ultimate safari destination. It features the "Big Five" animals every visitor wants to see: leopards, lions, elephants, rhinos and African buffalo; and on top of that, for the rest of 2009, kids stay free: a savings of nearly ZAR $2,000 per child per night -- nearly US $240.
Children aged 0-12, or "cubs," as the staff at the Lodge likes to refer to them, will become members of the Cub's Club upon arrival. Each cub will receive a backpack with all the necessities they will need during their time on safari: a coloring book, T-shirt, camera, insect catcher and bubble bath.
Then it will be off to the child treasure hunt, which is designed to be fun, educational and help the cubs become accustomed to their new African safari environment.
Also available for your cubs' pleasure are storybooks in the room as well as games, DVDs and CDs in the lounge. Every aspect of the day is organized and the expert staff has a variety of different activities planned that vary on a daily basis, that way there is something for every child.
This, of course, leaves plenty of time for the adults to relax and enjoy the scenery. Chiropractic treatments and massages are available at the Aroma Boma beauty treatment center and there is also a gym and tennis courts where guests can get the blood pumping.
In addition, for parents, there are both morning and evening safari excursions that can be experienced either on foot or by jeep. The Rock Lodge also offers a daily bush walk. Infants and toddlers under 5 are unable to participate in the game drives.
However, older children are more then welcome, and since the Lodge has babysitting (make sure to make prior arrangements), parents and children 6 and up can enjoy the safari experience together while the infants stay behind. Cubs, however, no matter what age, cannot participate in safari walks.
After a long day, children are treated to a bedtime story with cookies and milk in the lounge. In order to be eligible for this deal, families must stay in one of the suites that have been designed to accommodate them (subject to availability). The most popular of which is the Rock Suite, which features a private plunge pool and 2 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
This offer, part of the Limited Edition by Virgin (the lodge itself is owned by the Virgin Atlantic Airways group), is valid through the rest of 2009.
