Stay Play at Poconos Indoor Waterpark this Holiday Season from $145/N

As the largest facility of its kind in Pennsylvania's Poconos region, Split Rock Resort & Golf Club has been serving family travelers at its 1,200-acre property on Lake Harmony for more than 65 years. Spilt Rock's relatively new 53,000-square-foot, $19-million indoor waterpark, appropriately named H2Oooohh, is the highlight of the resort and this holiday season, families can have it all with one of Split Rock's special holiday offers.

The Christmas Week package, which includes admission to H2Oooohh as well accommodations in one of Split Rock's 605 rooms with two double beds, for a family of four, begin at $145.75/N per person, while children ages 5 to 15 are discounted at prices as low as $56.50/N per child. Guests will also receive a daily breakfast and will be invited to participate in Doc Holiday's Legendary Activity Schedule, which features a mixture of activities around the resort for both kids and adults. Based on double occupancy, this stay can be booked from December 18 through December 27.

For those who wish to spend the new year at the resort, the New Year's Eve Party Package begins at $132.25/N per person for deluxe accommodations and a daily breakfast. Also included will be a grand buffet, an all-out New Year's Eve celebration lasting from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and featuring Philadelphia Funk Authority & DJ Mike Foxx of WZZO95.1 and drink tickets to go with it. While you may want to leave the kids at home for this one, the whole family can join in on the resort's New Year's Eve Dinner & Party 2010 without the stay, enjoying the same features as well as a children's buffet and dessert station for your child's sweet tooth. Prices for both the party and dinner are $75 per adult and $35 per child, while attending only the party is $50 per adult and $22 per child.

And remember that staying at Split Rock means more than a waterpark; your stay also includes all of the other recreational opportunities available. Families can do anything and everything from tennis and boating to hiking, biking and swimming. On the grounds, Spilt Rock also boasts a 27-hole golf course, mini-golf, a movie theater, bowling alley and three restaurants. Additional recreational activities include racquetball, archery, bocce ball, shuffleboard, softball, volleyball, fishing, and skiing nearby.

Make sure to note that H2Oooohh is also open to the general public, which means you do not have to be a guest at Split Rock to enjoy all the fun. General Admission for guests 42" and up is $39.95 for a day pass (10am-10pm) and $31.95 for a twilight pass (from 4pm-10pm). Those under 42" can enjoy reduced rates of $34.95 for the day pass and $26.95 for a twilight pass. Seniors 65 years old age and older are also discounted $20. Children under 2 are free and adults who just wish to observe the fun can pay a refundable fee. Split Rock timeshare and cottage owners, as well as Activity Pass holders also get a reduced admission.

The rainforest-themed waterpark has many features including PA's very first indoor Flow Rider, a simulated surfing experience called the Komodo Dragon. Hurricane Cove, H2Oooohh's wave pool, satisfies body surfers all day with breaking waves that are up to six feet high. In total darkness, Amazon Blast is the family tube ride that brings twists and turns in a milder fashion than Viper/Piranha, two colorful single slides for the thrill seeker in the family.

For those who seek a more gentle waterpark experience, the Jungle Falls, a three-story tree house play area, drenches visitors with water and fun. Firing cannons, dumping water buckets, spouting geysers and other wet water toys can be found on all levels of the tree house.

Additional features of the park include a toddler play area, whirlpools and hot tubs, as well as lockers, a food court, Tiki Bar and resting area. And don't worry about getting too cold at H2Oooohh, because even if it is snowing outside, Split Rock will keep the waterpark at a temperature of 84 degrees, and a large skylight lets the sun shine everyday.

This was a very insightful review, thanks! I'd also recommend checking out offManhattan.com's story; Woodloch Pines Review: A Timeless Escape to the Poconos: http://offmanhattan.com/2009/12/14/woodloch-pines-review/

Thanks for the great info on this water park, I will sure chech that place out. I'm a huge fan of indoor water park poconos this link also has some more details.

Thanks for your ideas on other indoor waterparks, they really are a life-saver
when looking for a cheap "warm" weather getaway.

$145 per night is reasonable given the activities available for the family. Another great example of what an active family may achieve on a reasonable budget.

Sounds like the perfect thing for a family looking for a quick and easy getaway that doesn’t involve traveling across the country or down to Florida for a swim. Just a question, are those prices per night? or is there a number of days in the package - it’s not really clear.

That Christmas-New Year is per person; not cheap! Now that the holidays have passed, their Jan 2011 rate is $99.50 per adult per night, plus $10.50 and free on-site sports activities. (Compare to about $45 per person just to get into the waterpark if you're not a guest.)

Great Wolf Lodge is another fun waterpark nearby if you want to compare rates...
