Miami, and Clifford the Big Red Dog

Just heard from our friends at the Miami Children’s Museum that the hero of the PBS KIDS series, Clifford The Big Red Dog, will be part of a “paws-on’ interactive presentation opening June 27, 2009 and running through October 11,2009
The museum has a fun exhibit that recreates Birdwell Island, the home of Clifford, Emily Elizabeth and their friends. Visitors start aboard the Birdwell Island Ferry, complete with seagull sounds and clanking ship bells.
They’ll pass by the lighthouse and enter Birdwell Island. A nine feet tall Clifford greets visitors as they make their way into the exhibit. Kids can slide down Clifford’s tail, just as Emily Elizabeth does on the popular television show.
The museum staff tell me that they want to stress pet responsibility too try their hand at keeping Clifford’s dog bowl full by loading dog food into his bowl!
Inside Clifford’s doghouse, kids and parents create their own art and letters to mail to island residents or to take home.
Haven’t seen it, but Minnesota Children’s Museum, which created the exhibit, is well known for its fun, educational programs! Adults & children $15. Florida Residents $12. Children under 12 months are free. Members Complimentary. 305.373.KIDS (5437) www.miamichildrensmuseum.org
