For a classic, or colonial, multi-generational getaway, select from one of Colonial Williamsburg's official hotels ore review other options in this historic area.

Williamsburg is located in Virginia’s Tidewater region, 20 minutes from Newport News, within an hour’s drive of Richmond and Norfolk, and 150 miles south of Washington, D.C., off Interstate 64. Although there are numerous hotels and motels in Williamsburg to accommodate the more than 400,000 annual visitors, there are six official Colonial Williamsburg properties. Many of the educational programs of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation are subsidized by income from the following  hotels, which are also located adjacent to the Historic Area or conveniently accessed by Shuttle Buses. We like to recommend them because your hotel bills go to a good cause, but also because guests enjoy exclusive tours, special prices on tickets to attractions and special activities for children.

For complete information on the area's attractions, visit the Colonial Williamsburg website, or call 800/HISTORY or 757/229-1000.

This 5-star hotel is one of the nation's most distinguished, award-winning properties. Originally conceived and built by John D. Decorated in 19th-century Regency decor with many antiques and reproductions, the facilities include restaurants and an outdoor pool. Newly renovated suites range in size from 500 to 600-square-feet. While being the area's most lavish hotel, it maintains a quiet elegance befitting a comfortable Virginia country estate.  Christmas is the peak season here.

An adjoining one-bedroom carriage house can also be rented overnight or for special occasions. Tennis and golf are available on-site, as well as access to other property's facilities.
